In 1966, the established firms of G S Hutchinson & Co. and Sewell & Hanlan merged into one large real estate and insurance business to be known as Hutchinson Sewell & Associates (HSA).
In 1982 John Harlow and Peter Hutchinson decided to join forces to form a new company called Hutchinson & Harlow Pty Ltd. They purchased the insurance brokerage business from HSA but were not permitted to sell real estate for two years or do property management for five years.
Hutchinson & Harlow Real Estate moved into new offices. The insurance brokerage division moved upstairs when G S Hutchinson Pty Ltd purchased the current building. In 1988, the company Hutchinson & Harlow (Real Estate) Pty Ltd was incorporated.
Peter Georkas joined to the firm on 5 January 1998 with a bang selling a home on his first day!
In 2004, Hutchinson and Harlow Real Estate sold the property management department to become the first sales specialist agency in Country NSW. This enabled us to focus on increasing the level of service to our clients. Peter & Meg Georkas bought John Harlow’s 50% share of the business and became partners with Peter & Inge Hutchinson.
Meg commenced working at Hutchinson and Harlow Real Estate in 2005 on a full-time basis taking over the marketing, personnel, and administration roles.
In 2008 Peter and Meg Georkas purchased the remaining shares in Hutchinson and Harlow Real Estate and continue to own the company outright.
After 50 years of working in the Real Estate industry, Peter Hutchinson officially retired in March 2012, a record yet to be matched. We are very pleased to continue our close association with him even though he is happily living the retired dream on the Gold Coast!
As we move into our fourth decade of business, we celebrated with a brand update, a slight name change, and we continue to lead the way in local real estate.
“We are a family owned and operated business, supporting the local community through sponsorship and using local suppliers for as many products as possible.”
